PROGRESSIVE SOUNDSCAPES GOING OFF THE AIR

It is with much regret and great sadness that I'm writing this announcement.  At midnight, May15th 2007, Progressive Soundscapes Radio will be turning off it's broadcast streams and discontinuing it's webcasting.  This is a direct result of the new royalty laws concerning  all internet broadcasters which is about to be set forth by Congress on July 15, 2007.  If you're unaware of what's been transpiring recently in Congress, and you're a fan of internet broadcasting, or worse yet an artist who's benefited from the exposure internet radio has provided you, I highly encourage you to visit this website and subscribe to their newsletter.  http://www.kurthanson.com/

This is the official website for RAIN, the Radio and Internet Newsletter, which has been at the forefront of this ongoing battle.  You can find links there that will tell how you can contribute to this cause as well as how you can contact your respective state's government representative to help save internet radio.

On a short personal note, I'd like to thank everyone who's shared in the success of PSR, especially those who create this great music.  There are so many artists who have generously shared their music with us that I couldn't begin to thank them all here.  I've been truly blessed with many, many friendships.  Thank you all and I hope one day to see you all again!

John Garaguso

So long and thanks for all the fish.

PSR will be going off the air today indefinitely. We will keep the chat room and website up and running just in case something changes but it looks like the regulations and fees associated with running this station have become a hurdle we simply do not have the ability to surmount.

It has been our great pleasure to bring you some programming you can't get at many other places and to try and help out some artists who so deeply deserve more exposure get a little bit of air time. We have all met many wonderful people through this venture and have great memories that will last forever.

It is also our hope that our sister stations on the Progressive Rock Radio Network will be able to find a way to hang in there. You can help them do so at Savenetradio.org.

A couple of staff notes... Kenny won't be off the air for long as he will eventually be picking up an airshift at Cygnus Radio and I, your PSR web geek, am releasing my debut solo album today of all days.

All the best to you from the entire Progressive Soundscapes Staff.
